Graduate program in Astronomy and Astrophysics The Department of Astronomy at the University of Sofia "St. Kliment Ohridski" is the only place in Bulgaria which offers full education in Astronomy. The graduate program "Astronomy and Astrophysics" gives the students deep knowledge and practical skills in the development of modern Astronomy and Astrophysics. Besides the theoretical lectures, the program includes practical exercises in stellar and non-stellar photometry, spectroscopy and radio astronomy. Information, scientific results and pictures form the astronomical practice, carried out in the academic year 2009/2010 can be found here. The educational program "Astronomy and Astrophysics" contains a small number of obligatory courses and a lot of eligible ones. The application in the subject includes passing an exam in the end of September. The educational graduate program starts in the winter semester every year and continues two semesters. The program contains 3 obligatory courses, which give the students 30 credits and 315 hours auditorium busess in the first semester. In the two semesters there are 20 eligible courses altogether. This program gives the graduate students an opportunity to continue their work in the field of Astronomy as science researchers in different institution and astronomical observatories. The graduate students can also work as lecturers in different universities. Considerable number of students, who graduated from the Department of Astronomy at the University of Sofia are now approved scientists in foreign organizations and institutions.
