The workshop on Astronomy takes place every Thursday during the academic year.

Half of the meetings of the workshop are held at 19:30 pm in room A315 of the Faculty of Physics with predefined topic and speaker. The focus of these lectures is the Bulgarian contribution to the world Astronomy and the speakers are scientists from the Department and the Institute of Astronomy with NAO. The level of the lectures is suitable for students and scolars with a strong interest in Astronomy and Physics.

The other meetings are held at 19:30 pm at the Astronomical Observatory, Boris garden. These meetings have free program - talks about current astronomical discoveries and events. In good weather conditions it is possible to be made a short demonstrational observations of planets and the Moon with 15 cm refractor in the observatory. If the interest is very high a pre-registration will be needed, as places are limited.

The Workshop on Astronomy at the Department of Astronomy is taking place by more than 100 years. Its founder is a world-famous mathematician Acad. Kiril Popov, the first PhD in Astronomy in Bulgaria.
