03.11.2015 SEE SCIENCE CLOSE UP: WELCOME TO THE SCIENTIFIC POPULAR LECTURES IN ASTRONOMY! The workshop on Astronomy at the Department of Astronomy continues its activities for the academic year 2015/2016, the entire program can be found here: http://www.phys.uni-sofia.bg/~astro/program.html . The workshop is taking place by more than 100 years. Its founder is the world-famous mathematician Acad. Kiril Popov, the first PhD in Astronomy in Bulgaria. The workshop is open to all visitors and is held every Thursday during the academic year. Half of the meetings are held at 19:30 pm in room A315 at the Faculty of Physics with predefined topic and speaker. The focus of these lectures is the Bulgarian contribution to the Astronomy and the main speakers are mainly scientists from the Department of Astronomy and the Institute of Astronomy with NAO. The level of the lectures is suitable for students and scolars with a strong interest in Astronomy and Physics. The other meetings are held at 19:30 pm at the Astronomical Observatory, Boris garden. These meetings have free program - talks about current astronomical discoveries and events. In good weather conditions it is possible to be made a short demonstrational observations of planets and the Moon with 15 cm refractor in the observatory.
