Students' Astronomical Observatory

The Department of Astronomy at the University of Sofia "St. Kliment Ohridski" is the most prestigious place in Bulgaria, which offers its students the opportunity to earn a degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics at - undergraduate, graduate and PhD level.

The quality of the education is guaranteed by the teaching experts, the variety of available courses, and the practical training, included in the new curriculum. The Department of Astronomy owns modern and adequate instrumentation and also has experienced specialists, facilitating the students' excellent theoretical and practical education in the fields of stellar and nonstellar photometry, spectroscopy and radioastronomy, science communication. The Department has two observatories - The Astronomical Observatory at Boris Garden and Students' Astronomical Observatory - SAO Plana

The Department of Astronomy offers education in the following degree levels:

Undergraduate - Astronomy, Meteorology and Geophysics - regular and part-time education, 8 semesters

Graduate - Astronomy and Astrophysics - regular education, 3 semesters

Graduate - Astronomy and popularization of Astronomy - part-time, paid education, 4 semesters
